Welcome to IX Anthology

Because Knowledge and Transparency are Powerful.

Who We Are

We’re IX Anthology, a resource whose goal is to bring knowledge and understanding about Title IX to students and administration alike. For those who don’t know, Title IX is one of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX states:

Our mission statement is as follows: There’s a disconnect between policy and experience. While administration might have a student's best interest at heart, oftentimes students are left confused, unsure, and not properly supported. It’s our goal to fill in the gaps when it comes to information and understanding surrounding Title IX. We believe that knowledge is power - and knowing what to expect during a time of great uncertainty can make all of the difference.

In researching Title IX for this website, we realized that it can be difficult to find information on the process, at both a federal and institutional level. It can be even harder to understand what it all means. This seemed counterintuitive to us. It should be a student’s right to know what resources are available to them, what rights they have, and what awaits them in the Title IX process.

Some of the policies and processes themselves also seemed counterintuitive; like those making them were unaware of what it was like at the “ground-level” of a case - of what students go through. On one hand, this makes sense. They aren’t students. On the other hand, though, it’s up to those in power to understand the impact their decisions have on the people in their care.

That’s why we decided to make this website. In this resource, we’ve included personal stories from students who’ve experienced the Title IX process, data and data visualizations that show the numbers behind national Title IX cases, and information on Title IX from a federal and institutional policy perspective. We want students, especially those affected by Title IX, to feel in control of their lives.  It’s our hope that students and administration alike can come to this anthology to gain knowledge and a broader perspective on Title IX, because knowledge and transparency are powerful.

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
